This collection was originally brought together in the ‘90s and includes Holly’s more romantic sides on something of a tour de force. Many of the recordings were pulled from different sources, cleaned up by the MCA label of the time and in a couple of cases are the undubbed takes which, through their simple raw simplicity, add and extra level of goose bumps to the proceedings. The opener Live Is Strange also closes the set in its undubbed form and the latter is a must hear, as is the undubbed take of You’re The One. Elsewhere Holly’s way with words and his aching intonations back with The Crickets on Love’s Made A Fool Of You and the haunting Not Fade Away through to his later solo material – Raining In My Heart and Crying, Waiting, Hoping, make these 22 tracks an essential listen.
