Recorded in 1975 in LA with a tight six piece band, Amazonas contains two blistering modern funk moments in the title track and Mindoro, where Luiz Alves’ bass thrusts the proceedings into hyperdrive. Elsewhere the mood is more mellow with Tjader’s vibes and marimba augmented by some gorgeous flute from Hermeto Pascoal and trombone from Raul De Souza.
