Cerrone’s production line of hits was never slow to react to new sounds and by 1982, his eighth album, Back Track, saw him move away from his trademark Eurodisco and add a slicker feel to his sound, akin to the music being played on adult contemporary radio of the time. With treated saxophones next to the synths and the inevitable driving beat, VIII is more tempered and slower of tempo, Cerrone even taking time to rework his Supernature hit with Nanette Workman on vocals.
