Following the departure of Vivian Campbell through musical differences, Dio recruited Rough Cutt’s Craig Goldy on guitar for 1987’s 'Dream Evil'. Another controversial release, the Dio logo when turned upside down reads as ‘Devil’, 'Dream Evil' took the straight ahead eerie metal of its predecessors and added yet more spooky mystery and mystical storylines, summoning up all sorts of classic metallic imagery that enraged the authorities but further enhanced Dio’s reputation with a growing audience.
