You’d be forgiven for thinking, perhaps, that an eleven piece from the Midlands couldn’t produce driving brass-powered rock music and inspire the UK progressive scene with their mix of styles that led one wag to compare them to a mix of Grateful Dead and the Chicago Transit Authority. But Galliard did just that. New Dawn was one of two albums they produced for Deram and the shrieking brass and driving rhythms make it a unique experience. The band failed to make it big but their players were loaned out to Keef Hartley and Ashton, Gardner And Dyke among others.
